Simeone: Di Maria is Real's Best Player

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone said he thinks that Angel Di Maria is Real Madrid’s best player following the teams’ 1-1 draw in the first-leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Tuesday. Di Maria, who has been widely linked with a move away from the Bernabeu before the end of the transfer window, came on for the final 12 minutes and immediately caused havoc in the Atletico defense, which had had a comfortable game until his introduction.

"The game changed with Di Maria," Simeone told reporters after the game. "It's logical -- he's the best player they have." Asked to clarify his comments, the Argentine added: "He's the player most likely to create openings in the opposition half."

Di Maria, 26, has been linked with moves to either Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain, although the latter appears to have bowed out of the running for the Argentine’s signature due to financial fair play restraints imposed on it by UEFA, Europe’s governing body for soccer.
