[VIDEO PICK: Golazo] Before his third game since announcing he's retiring after the season, Landon Donovan was honored by host Colorado Rapids and presented with a ski pass, a Vail Resorts gift basket and a bottle of wine from Colorado owner Stan Kroenke's vineyard.

Donovan responded by scoring the gamewinner in the Los Angeles Galaxy's 4-3 win at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Every goal that Donovan scores in his remaining games adds to his record for all-time MLS goals.

This one was his 139th regular-season strike and also provided a gratifying Galaxy victory in the wake of its 4-1 loss to Columbus last season.

Of active players on the MLS all-time leading scorers, Toronto FC's Dwayne De Rosario is next behind Donovan with 103 goals and then comes Edson Buddle, who scored his 100th goal when he gave the Rapids their fleeting 2-0 lead on Wednesday.

Almost criminal that this guy did not go to the world cup. That first touch was world class.

@BJG Couldn't agree with you more... Class touch. Class player. I think the more time passes, the more we will realize that not bring LD to Brazil was a crucial mistake. We got the same results we've been getting for 20 years!!(with 02 being the exception - and who got us to the quarterfinals????-LD!!!)
