[SOCCER ON THE AIR] The Whistle Sports Network, which launched on YouTube in January, has reached a content and distribution agreement with KickTV, adding MLS to its list of content partners along with the likes of the NFL, MLB and NASCAR. The move expands KickTV presence in the growing space of multi-channel networks.

KickTV on YouTube has more than 1.1 million subscribers and 13 channels. Its content includes the Emmy-nominated MLS Insider documentary series.

The Whistle Sports Network's 6.8 million subscribers make it the most subscribed sports property on that platform. It only last week launched an Xbox 360 sports content app featuring videos from both league partners and YouTube content creators.

The Whistle aims at reaching younger viewers who may not watch cable but are big digital and gaming users.

“This partnership with The Whistle will allow MLS and KickTV to reach an audience of 80 million engaged Xbox users who align very well to our target of young tech-savvy soccer fans,” said MLS Digital vice president Chris Schlosser in a statement. “Their Xbox app looks amazing and we are excited to be involved with the launch. The Whistle understands our audience, knows how to keep fans engaged and will be a great partner for content collaboration and distribution.”
