Johnson assists on Europa League winner

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Fabian Johnsonmade his competitive debut with Borussia Moenchengladbach, serving up the winning goal by Branimir Hrgota in the German club's 3-2 win at FK Sarajevo in th first leg of their Europa League playoff series.

Johnson started the game at right back but later moved to right wing from where his cross found Hrgota for his second goal in the 73rd minute.

Johnson didn't play in Gladbach's competitive opener in the DFB Pokal. It opens its Bundesliga season Sunday against VfB Stuttgart.

-- American Pablo Punyed went the distance Wednesday in Icelandic club Stjarnan's 3-0 loss to Inter Milan at home in the Europa League.
