Charleston clinches playoff berth, Rhinos move closer

[USL PRO: Week 24] The Charleston Battery became the fifth team to clinch a USL PRO playoff berth when it beat Pittsburgh, 4-0, on Saturday night in front of a crowd 4,181 at Blackbaud Stadium.

The Battery got a hat trick from forward Dane Kelly, but the big play was a save by goalkeeper Odisnel Cooper on Jose Angulo's penalty kick with the score at 1-0.

“We got knocked in the teeth on Wednesday at Sacremento but the players bounced back,” said Battery head coach Mike Anhaeuser. “We are doing a great job of getting goals and Cooper is keeping them out.”

The Rochester Rhinos snapped a four-game winless streak with a 4-1 victory over the Harrisburg City Islanders that solidified their position in the playoff picture with a week to go.

Three second-half goals by Alec Sundly, JC Banks and Babacar Diallo allowed the Rhinos to break a 1-1 tie.
