[AMERICANS ABROAD] Brad Guzan's Aston Villa beat Hull City, 2-1, to move into third place in the English Premier League. Alfredo Morales had two assists and Bobby Wood had one for their German second division clubs. All three are among the 20 foreign-based players called in for Wednesday's USA-Czech Republic game.

Seventeen played this weekend. The only players who did not play were Julian Green, who dressed for Bayern and Stoke City's Geoff Cameron and Brek Shea, who did not dress in Stoke City's 1-0 winner over Manchester City. All three players might be transferred before the summer transfer window closes.

Villa heads into the September international break unbeaten in the EPL thanks to its comfortable win over Hull City. It led on goals by Gabriel Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann, and Guzan could do nothing to stop the late Hull goal that was scored when Nikica Jelavic's header deflected off Villa defender Aly Cissokho.
