American DANNY KARBASSIYOON, a 20-year-old Virginia product, has signed with English second-tier club Burnley. Karbassiyoon was waived in May by Arsenal, which he joined 2003. The MetroStars have acquired defender RYAN SUAREZ off waivers. Suarez, 27, was waived by Chivas USA on Monday following a televised sideline row with Coach Hans Westerhof on Saturday. Suarez has played 100 MLS games for Chivas USA, Los Angeles and Dallas in his five-year career.
