The English Football Association won’t punish Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, accused of directing discriminatory comments at the then-club doctor Eva Carneiro in an incident during the opening day of the 2015-16 EPL season. Upset that she and trainer Jon Fearn went on thefield to treat Eden Hazard near the end of the match against Swansea, Mourinho had a fiery confrontation with Carneiro. A Portuguese linguistic expert analyzedthe footage and found that Mourinho’s words did not constitute discriminatory language under FA rules. Carneiro had her duties downgraded, was banned from attending matches or training sessions andlater left Chelsea. The FA’s decision was roundly criticized by the Women in Football, which said it was “appalled.”
