Columbus won its first playoff series since capturing its only MLS Cup title in 2008 by beating Montreal, 3-1, in extra time to take the Eastern Conference semifinals on aggregate, 4-3.
Kei Kamara, who tied for the league lead for goals in the regular season with 22, netted the first and last goals for Crew SC, which prevailed eventhough Kamara failed to convert a penalty kick midway through the second half.
