Spurs Sports & Entertainment — the entity that owns the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs — got its USL franchise, another step in its bid to convince MLS to award it an expansion team. SS&E alsonamed Darren Powell, the former head coach at Elon University and Orlando City academy coach, as head coach for the team that is set to begin play at Toyota Field in March.
