U.S. coach Bruce Arena has replaced forward Eddie Johnson, who has not recovered from a toe injury, with D.C. United's Santino Quaranta, who has two goals in 10 MLS appearances this season. ...

Chivas USA has released defenders Ryan Suarez and Alfonso Loera, who have appeared in 15 and nine games, respectively.

Suarez, after being subbed in the 28th minute of last Saturday's 3-0 loss to Kansas City, engaged in a screaming match with Coach Hans Westerhof in a scene caught by television cameras. The two were separated by other players and coaches.

''It was a terrible mistake,'' Chivas USA president Antonio Cue told the Daily Breeze. ''There's a code of conduct for the team. He violated that. And that's why he's on waivers.''
