MLS: Los Angeles and San Jose win placement games at La Manga Cup
February 28th, 2003 3:33PM

The Los Angeles Galaxy took third place at La Manga Cup in Spain with a 3-1 win over Viking Stavanger of Norway Friday.

Chris Albright scored two goals and set up Mauricio Cienfuegos for the third goal.

Brian Mullan, Ramiro Corrales and Arturo Alvarez all scored goals for the San Jose Earthquakes in a 3-1 win over Lyn Oslo of Norway Thursday in the seventh-place game -- the Quakes' first in four games at the preseason tournament.

San Jose played the last 15 minutes with 10 men after goalie Jon Conway was red carded. Lyn midfielder Jonny Hansen was sent off with four minutes left.

In other preseason action Thursday, Chris Carrieri's goal gave Colorado a 1-0 win over the U.S. amateur national team.
