Juve Relegation Appeal Rejected

Juventus has failed to overturn a court decision relegating the club to Italy's Serie B for the 2006/2007 season. Juve officials failed to convince a CONI (Italy's Olympic committee) arbitration panel that the club deserved to be reinstated into the first division with a points deduction after debating the matter for several days. Now the club looks certain to continue its legal battle for a spot in Serie A with another of Italy's seemingly limitless sports tribunals. As things stand, Juve has been stripped of its 2005 and 2006 Scudetto titles, denied entry to this year's Champions League, and was forcibly relegated to Serie B with a 17-point deduction. Juve's penalty comes in the wake of a massive match fixing scandal where it played a central role. Implicated clubs include Juventus, AC Milan, Lazio, Fiorentina, and Reggina. There is now less than a month before the Serie A season starts. Read the original story...
