Hargreaves to Ask for Transfer

They've told him he can't go, but according to reports in England, Owen Hargreaves doesn't care. Later today, the England central midfielder is expected to announce his intention to leave Bayern Munich in a press conference called at his request. Not only is Hargreaves expected to demand a move away from the German club, but the Guardian expects the player to denounce his current employers for refusing to entertain offers from other clubs. Bayern has been unrelenting in its response to advances made by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, most recently threatening to involve FIFA if the club didn't stop. But stop it has, which means the onus is now on Hargreaves to publicly push for a move. Reports suggest that the player has already been fined for his part in "illegal" negotiations with Manchester United, and Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has been adamant about harsh repercussions if Hargreaves doesn't back down. "We are FC Bayern Munich, and we don't give in to anybody," Rumenigge said. "At this club, it is the employer who decides what happens, not the employee." Read the original story...
