Milan made a $22 million offer for Real Madrid's three-time World Player of the Year Ronaldo that was later rejected. The bid is thought to be $3 million less than Real's asking price; Real also wanted Brazilian midfielder Kaka to become part of the negotiations but Milan reiterated the he was not for sale. "This won't be resolved tonight," Real President Ramon Calderon told Spanish television yesterday. "The first thing is find out what the player thinks. In principle, he would like to stay." Ronaldo has yet to play since Brazil lost to France in the World Cup quarterfinals in late July. He is also expected to miss Madrid's opening La Liga match against Villarreal on Sunday. Ronaldo's form for Real Madrid slumped last season. Certainly a step or two slower than when he arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2002, Ronaldo fell out of favor with fans at the end of last season, when they started booing him for a string of apathetic performances.
