Ching testimonial should be the first of many

Well, it's about time. Nearly 18 years after it kicked off its first season, MLS will stage its first testimonial match Dec. 13 when the Dynamo honors stalwart forward Brian Ching. He confirmed his plan to retire at the end of the 2013 season and disclosed his intent to commemorate it with an actual soccer game.

Claudio Suarez: USA much improved; Mexico was overconfident

In the big picture, the USA still looks in great shape to qualify for the World Cup. It began Friday night six points ahead of the fourth-place team in the Hexagonal and it ended Friday night five points ahead of the fourth-place team.

Eddie Johnson must have known there would be backlash when he rubbed his fingers together and mouthed "Pay me" after scoring only goal of Seattle's 1-0 defeat of Columbus last weekend, right?
