[AMERICANS ABROAD] Goalkeeper Brad Friedel and Blackburn Rovers were ousted from the English League Cup at the quarterfinal stage with a 3-2 loss overtime to Arsenal. Playing a man down during overtime, Arsenal got a 104th minute winner when Eduardo beat Friedel with a low shot from 16 yards.

Brazilian Romario's hair-loss treatment defense didn't fly. The 1994 World Cup champion was banned for 120 days on Tuesday for failing a drug test which he blamed on a hair-loss treatment that he had been taking for some time.
