Reports out of Mexico that Mexican Carlos Slim, the richest man in the world, is negotiating to buy Chivas de Guadalajara from Jorge Vergara have put in doubt the future of Chivas USA, but MLS denies it is going anywhere.

Three of the last four MLS matches on NBC Sports Network averaged 54,000 viewers. The TV audience for the fourth game -- the May 4 Columbus-New York match -- was more than double that. What gives?

MLS's top 20 highest-paid players

The New York Red Bulls' Thierry Henry is again the highest-paid player in MLS and one of only eight players making more than $1 million a year in guaranteed compensation, which includes a player's base salary and all signing and guaranteed bonuses annualized over the term of the player's contract, including option years.

Will Weatherford may be most hated man in Florida soccer circles. Never heard of him? He's the speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, and he managed to seriously compromise the MLS expansion dreams of two Florida markets, Orlando and Miami, with one deed of inaction.
