Location: Mile High Stadium. Kickoff (ET): 8:30 p.m. Television: ESPN2. Satellite: Galaxy 5, Tr. 14.

Series History: June 2 at Mile High Stadium -- United got its first shootout win when it downed the Rapids 3-2.

Injuries: D.C. United -- D Mike Huwiler (aggravated groin) is out; Colorado -- M Chris Henderson (strained hamstring), M Steve Trittschuh (broken toe), M Felipe Rodriguez (hip flexor), M Josh McKay (strained ankle), F Richard Sharpe (tibia stress fracture), and F Jean Harbor (aggravated broken ulna) are probable, M Brian Bates (compound thumb fracture) is doubtful, D Marcelo Balboa (bruised foot), D Ian Butterworth (bruised foot), D Troy Edwards (groin surgery), M Dominic Kinnear (reconstructive ACL surgery), and M Roy Wegerle (strained calf) are out.

Of Note: D.C. has three straight impressive victories -- over the Galaxy, MetroStars, and Mutiny -- and could reach the .500 mark with a win tonight.... However, Bruce Arena will not have his Bolivian stars Marco Etcheverry and Jaime Moreno, as they are with the Bolivian national team for World Cup qualifying.... Shawn Medved should join John Harkes in midfield, while Steve Rammel will join Raul Diaz Arce (back from a yellow-card suspension) up front.... Colorado desperately needs a win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.... The Rapids, already ravaged by injuries, have more problems: forward Shaun Bartlett is out with a one-game yellow-card suspension (USISL loan Raimo DeVries will start up front in his place), and versatile Brian Bates is doubtful with a compound thumb fracture suffered against San Jose on Sunday.... In addition, backup keeper Dusty Hudock's father passed away, and he is with his family.... The Rapids have called up keeper Matt Mennell from the USISL's Colorado Springs Stampede.... Colorado is 2-9 when Marcelo Balboa (still hampered by a bruised foot) is out of the lineup.

D.C. United -- Simpson, Peay, Pope, Agoos, Gori, Williams, Harkes, Medved, Sanneh, Diaz Arce, Rammel.

Colorado -- Woods, Cannon, Hamlett, Kmosko, S. Henderson, C. Henderson, Benedetti, Trittschuh, Sharpe, DeVries, Harbor.

Prediction: United dash Colorado's post season hopes with a 3-1 win.
