Major League Soccer's 10 charter teams today turned in their list of players who will be available for the league's 1998 Expansion Draft. The Chicago Fire and Miami Fusion, the league's two 1998 expansion teams, will participate in the 12-round draft on Thursday, November 6 at 1:00 p.m. ET. On Oct. 24, Chicago won the right to pick first in each of the 12 rounds of the 1998 MLS Expansion Draft. Each of the 10 charter MLS teams were required to make a minimum of 10 players available to the 1998 Expansion Draft; teams which exceed the limit of the 20-man active roster (due to injured reserve or other circumstances) were required to increase the number of available players accordingly. New England, Tampa Bay, Dallas and D.C. United had to make more than 10 players available for the draft.

Wizards, Crew make trade

The Kansas City Wizards traded forward/midfielder Frank Klopas to the Columbus Crew for forward Pete Marino. Klopas, who started 24 games for the Wizards in 1997, had 5 goals and 7 assists, while "Sneaky Pete," the Crew's super-sub, led the team with 20 points.
