USC has named Ali Khosroshahin, a three-time Big West Coach of the Year at Cal State Fullerton, as its new women's head coach.

Khosroshahin led Fullerton to three NCAA Tournament appearances and had winning seasons in each of his 6 years there.

''We are delighted to have someone of AliÆs background and ability join us,ö said USC athletic director Mike Garrett. ôHe did an outstanding job of building Cal State Fullerton into a nationally-competitive program. We anticipate he will lead our womenÆs team to national prominence.ö

Khosroshahin, 36, takes over for Jim Millinder, whose contract was not renewed last month after 11 years as the Women of TroyÆs head coach.

Before taking over at Cal State Fullerton, he was an assistant with the TitansÆ womenÆs and menÆs programs for four years (1997-2000). He began his coaching career in 1992 as the boys varsity head coach at Canyon High in Anaheim (Calif.), where he was the Century League Coach of the Year in 1993. He then was the girls varsity head coach at San Marino (Calif.) High in 1994. He was a graduate assistemt, then full-time womenÆs and menÆs assistant at alma mater Cal State Los Angeles for four years.
