"You have shown a lack of respect. You are liars. You told the fans that I had bought a house in Los Angeles and that I had already agreed a contract but that is not true. The club, my teammates, and the coach have treated me well and have my respect but you two will never have my respect. You've let me down."
-- MLS-bound David Beckham strikes back at Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon and sporting director Predrag Mijatovic. Calderon, who responded by apologizing, had insulted Beckham -- claiming no other teams were interested him and that he was going to L.A. to be an half-baked actor -- his Real Madrid teammates and Real Madrid fans in a talk at a university that was taped unbeknownst to him and broadcast on Spanish radio. Beckham's teammates, present during the exchange, reportedly delighted in Beckham's counterattack. (The Guardian)
