Honduran playmaker Amado Guevara, who had been in talks over a possible move to Toronto FC, will not be joining Major League Soccer, his U.S.-based agent Patrick McCabe confirmed on Friday. In an email, McCabe said the parties were close to reaching a deal but that "certain obligations could not be met within the requested time period." McCabe said Guevara would remain with Honduran club Motagua until the end of the current season, and would be available to rejoin MLS during the summer transfer period.
However, MLS sources tell Soccer By Ives that the deal "is still very
much alive" and that a deal may yet be completed before the April 15 transfer deadline. The hold-up over the negotiations is still unclear, but one source believes it could be compensation to
Motagua, Guevara's current club.
