While all the talk in MLS these last few weeks has centered on David Beckham's fate with the league and Landon Donovan's Deutschland adventure, L.A. Galaxy coach Bruce Arena has been allowed to ready the rest of his 2009 squad under the radar.
That changes a bit on Wednesday when the Galaxy hosts the Pan Pacific Championship at the Home Depot Center, where
it welcomes top teams from Japan (Oita Trinita), China (Shandong Luneng) and South Korea (Suwon Samsung Bluewings) for the second installment of the four-team competition.
"It's a great
break from the preseason," said Arena. "This is a great opportunity to see where we are, to look at some players and simply to gauge the kind of progress we've made and where we need to go before
