Leroux and McCarty shine in Germany

UCLA's Sydney Leroux, winner of the Golden Ball and Golden Shoe at the 2008 Under-20 Women's World Cup, and Florida State's Tiffany McCarty scored in both games for the U.S. under-20 women's national team in its friendly matches against England and Germany, which were preparing for the UEFA Under-19 Championship.

Forward Maya Hayes came off the bench to score twice while Leroux and McCarty added a goal each in a 4-1 win over England in Flensburg, Germany.

Beth West and Christine Nairn both had two assists.

The U-20s fell behind by two goals in the first 10 minutes of their match against Germany before rallying with two goals to earn a 2-2 tie in Hamburg.

Leroux had the equalizer with just five minutes left.

The match concluded a nine-day training camp in Germany.
