Brazilian club Sao Paulo continued its hot streak, winning its seventh straight match by defeating struggling Fluminense 1-0. Midfielder Richarlyson scored Sao Paulo's winner with a remarkable goal at Morumbi Stadium, dribbling past two defenders before firing a shot over charging Fluminense goalkeeper Rafael.
The result put Sao Paulo only one point behind rival Palmeiras, which lost, 1-0, to Coritiba. The result also extended Fluminense's winless streak to four matches
and kept the traditional Rio de Janeiro club second-to-last in the 20-team standings, deep in the relegation zone. Fluminense has three wins and 11 losses in 20 matches.
Sao Paulo, the
winner of the last three national championships, hasn't lost or drawn since a 2-2 result against Internacional on July 22.
