DaMarcus Beasley admits he needs to take better care of himself if he is to avoid recurring injuries that have threatened his chances of returning to theWorld Cup for a third time. The latest: a thigh sprain that kept him out of action for six weeks.

Beasley, who played the first half of Rangers’ 3-0 win over Hibernian on Saturday, saysU.S. coach Bob Bradley told him a place on the World Cup team is far from secure. “He got out a lot of things that needed to be said — and we are on the samepage about what is required before the summer,” said Beasley. “Every coach wants his players to be playing and I’m not guaranteed a spot for the World Cup. My job is to put myself in the window byplaying regularly and hope he decides to pick me.”

Beasley admitted he’s never suffered injuries like he’s had at Rangers. “If it’s not my hamstrings, it’s my knee, my thigh or my ankle. The last year has made me realize I need to start taking care of myself better. All my problems have been muscle injuries from quick movements. So there are maybe extra things I could be doing tostrengthen those muscles to avoid strains.”
