The most notable absentee from the Bayern Munich team that will face Inter Milan in Saturday's UEFA Champions League final is Italian striker Luca Toni,
loaned out to Roma during the winter following a falling out with Coach Louis van Gaal.
According to Bayern Munich captain Mark van Bommel, the problems began on van Gaal's second day on the job last summer when Toni fell asleep at the table during a team lunch. Van Gaal was upset, according to van Gaal, and immediately called Toni to his office.
“It was not good that, on the second day, Luca Toni sat so casually, half lying on the table," van Bommel told the tabloid Bild. “Normally, the team would take side with the player. But in this case no one supported him.”
