FIFA announced that 3.18 million fans attended the 64 matches in South Africa for an average attendance at the 64 games of 49,670. The figure makes the 2010 World Cup the third highest attendedfinal. The USA-hosted 1994 World Cup, which comprised of only 52 games, still holds the record at 3.59 million.

The second highest attended World Cup was Germany 2006 with 3.36 millionspectators.

The average number of goals per game in South Africa was 2.27, down from 2.30 in Germany and 2.50 goals per game in Japan/South Korea in 2002. South Africa 2010 was thesecond-lowest scoring World Cup in history, after the 1990 tournament in Italy that had an average of 2.21.
