Residents of troubled Chester, Pa., obtained 260 of the 491 “game-day” positions at Philadelphia Union’s new PPL Park offered during a recent career fair, contributing to the city’srevival.

Local 845 carpenter Kyle DeGraphenreed says the stadium and the jobs it is bringing will bring money for residents and crime will godown. PPL Park is a key to the city’s urban redevelopment program to fight crime and drugs in the area. DeGraphenreed saw evidence of the work at a new apartment complex.

“Whendid that get built?” he asked after driving by the complex. “I was amazed at how fast they were building stuff, cleaning stuff up. I’m like, wow they are really serious about turning this wholething around.”
