[PENN STATE-AKRON] For just the second time all season, No. 1 Akron had to play catch-up, coming back from a goal down to beat Penn State, 2-1, before almost3,000 fans in University Park on a penalty kick by junior Michael Nanchoff in the 107th minute.

Junior DarlingtonNagbe found space after receiving a long pass and then was brought down in the box by Penn State goalkeeper Brendan Birmingham in the penalty area.

Cory Hertzog scored his 12th goal of the season to put Penn State ahead in the sixth minute, but the Zips responded with the equalizer coming just oneminute later when Nanchoff set up Nagbe.

Akron had two opportunities to win in the closing minutes of regulation but Birmingham came up big with stops on Kofi Sarkodie and Nanchoff.

The start of the game was delayed 29 minutes after some game jerseys were taken from of the Zips’ locker room.
