[UC SANTA BARBARA-CAL POLY] UC Santa Barbara set an NCAA soccer record Tuesday night when it drew 6,057 fans for its 2-1 win over Big West rival Cal Poly. TheGauchos are the first team to draw three crowds of more than 6,000 in one regular season.
 
UCSB’s average of 6,098 fans a game is also on pace to break the modern NCAA soccerrecord.

Junior midfielder Luis Silva scored with just 53 seconds remaining in regulation time to give the Gauchos the win in the first of twoBlue-Green rivalry games this season. UCSB improved to 6-3-2 on the season and 3-1-0 in Big West play.

Another big crowd is expected Friday when UCSB hosts No. 14 Duke at Harder Stadiumin a match to be televised on Fox Soccer Channel’s NSCAA College Game of the Week (kickoff: 8 p.m. PT, 11 p.m ET).
