Just over a month after getting fired by Liverpool, Roy Hodgson has been appointed head coach of West Brom, which sacked Roberto Di Matteo earlier this week.

Hodgson, 63, was voted England’s manager of the year last season after guiding Fulham to the Europa League final but didn’t last long at Liverpool.

“It was not my intention toreturn to Premier League football this quickly,” Hodgson said. “But I was so impressed by the way the chairman (Jeremy Peace) and the sporting and technical director (DanAshworth) sold the project to me that I was very happy to accept the offer.

West Brom is in 17th place — one spot above the relegation zone.
