How crazy are soccer fans about the arrival of the MLS Timbers in Portland? A line of fans trying to gain entrance to the 600-seat Bagdad Theater and watch the broadcast of the Timbers’ debut matchat Colorado stretched three blocks. And it wasn’t the only place in town to watch the game.

There were 400 or so more Portland fans at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, and they went nuts whenKenny Cooper scored Portland’s first goal to ease the pain of a 3-1 loss to the defending MLS champs.

At the Bagdad Theater, members of the TimbersArmy sang throughout the game, breaking into chants of “Portland boys, we are here.” They get a chance to show their devotion to the Timbers at the newly named Jeld-Wen Field  on April 14 whenPortland hosts its first game against the Chicago Fire.
