Steven Goff’s examines the international options available to D.C. United midfielder Andy Najar and concludes that the18-year-old midfielder will likely choose to play for native Honduras and make an announcement on his decision within two weeks.

“I know he’s getting close to becomingcomfortable with making it public,” agent Chris Megaloudis said. “I don’t think it will happen today or tomorrow but probably in the next 10days. He’s eager to put it to bed. It will be good for everyone’s peace of mind.”

Najar moved from Honduras to Northern Virginia five years ago and is a green-cardholder but is at least two years away from being granted U.S. citizenship. He could play for Honduras immediately. He passed on a chance of representing the Catrachos at the Concacaf U-20 championshipto concentrate on D.C.’s start to the 2011 MLS season, but he could suit up for Honduras at the 2011 Gold Cup.
