Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal was fired on Sunday, a day after its 1-1 tie with Nuremberg left it fourth in the Bundesliga and outside the ChampionsLeague places for next season, and Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness blamed the Dutchman for ruining the atmosphere at the club and alienating his players.

“Success is one thing, funanother, but there has been no fun at this club for a long time, not among us [the board] and not with the players,” said Hoeness at a press conference on Sunday. “The idea they were behind the coachis already a fairytale.”

Van Gaal’s assistant, Andries Jonker, will be interim coach until the end of the season, and Bayer Leverkusen coach Jupp Heynckes will return as head coach next season.

“I expect the players to come out fighting,” Hoeness said. “They have been put in a straitjacket fora months and if you had watched them for the last few weeks, there had been pure fear behind their actions. I assume that will all end immediately.”

  1. After playing musical chairs for 4 seasons maybe Bayern management should be looking in the mirror not onto the field. Klinsmann tried to tell them that they needed to change their entire philosophy. Maybe they could hire him as a consultant!!!!!
