The future of Aston Villa and Coach Gerard Houllier, who spent eight days in the hospital after complaining of chest pains, will be discussed next month at the end of the PremierLeague season.

Houllier, 63, was discharged Thursday and will convalesce at home during the summer. Assistant coach Gary McAlister will manage the team for its final fourgames of the season.

“The facts are the doctors are saying he’s good enough to come out of hospital after only one week,” said McAllister. “We’ve been convinced his condition will be finein the future.”

One of the players who may be affected by Houllier’s condition is goalkeeper Brad Friedel, whose contract expires in June. He is being mentioned as apossible successor to Manuel Neuer at Schalke or could also return to Liverpool, where he began his Premier League career in 1997.
