[STANFORD WOMEN] U.S. under-20 national team forward Chioma Ubogagu and former U.S. under-17 forward Alex Doll head up a class that should help Stanford, No. 1 throughout the 2010 regular season, again contend for the 2011 NCAA Division I women’s title.

Ubogagu, who plays for Dallas area power D’Feeter’s, was born in London and moved to the United States at age 3.

“Chioma is a dynamic attacking player wit h great speed and skill,” says Stanford coach PaulRatcliffe. “She has the ability to beat defenders 1 v. 1 and is a proven goal scorer.”

Doll played for the Bethesda Dragons and was named NSCAA High School All-America twiceat Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School.

Other recruits include Californians Hannah Farr (Marin FC), Lo’eauLaBonta (Arsenal FC), Haley Rosen (SoCal Blues) and Lauren Schmidt (Mountain View-Los Altos Avalanche).

Schmidt captained host Trinidad & Tobago at the 2010 Under-17 Women’s World Cup.

Stanford completed two consecutive undefeated regular seasons, won two consecutive Pac-10 titlesbut lost in the College Cup final both seasons.

Despite losing Soccer America Player of the Year Christen Press to graduation, the Cardinal returns nine starters,four All-Americans and eight all-conference selections from last season’s 23-1-2 team.
