A year before Poland is to co-host the 2012 European Championship with Ukraine, Poland’s top auditing office says delays in preparation could threaten the running of the event.

The mostserious delays are in building roads needed to move fans among four Polish cities hosting games, says the Supreme Audit Office, which also noted delays in building the National Stadium in Warsaw andin modernizing train stations.

The report says that despite progress in preparations, “the scale of the delays, abandoned projects and poorly executed investments is so large that it couldendanger the proper course of the event.”
