Bayern Munich says the section of hard-core fans who abused new Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer on his first appearance for the club are now no longer welcome. The German nationalteam keeper switched from archrivals Schalke 04 and was given a cold welcome by some of the 2,500 fans watching when he played the first half of the 15-0 win against Trentino on the shores of LakeGarda, Italy.
One banner read: “You can save as many balls as you like. We will never accept you in our shirt.”
Bayern issued a statement on Thursday saying anyone who insultsNeuer will become a “persona non grata” at the club and effectively banned.
