MLS announced Friday that a game scheduled between D.C. United and Portland Saturday at RFK Stadium has been postponed.

Safety and security concerns regarding Hurricane Irene, which is expected to hit the Washington, D.C., area Saturday, prompted officials yesterday to change the kickoff from 7:30 p.m. ET to 2 p.m. After discussions Friday morning the decision was made to postpone the game.

A rescheduled time and date will be announced next week. Tickets bought will be honored on the make-up date. Two other MLS games scheduled for Saturday -- New York-Los Angeles and Philadelphia-New England -- have also been postponed.
