All is not well in the land of defending MLS champion Colorado. A feud between head coach Gary Smith and technical director Paul Bravo has reached the breaking point, at least in the belief of Smith, whose contract is about to expire and wants a different front-office setup to sign a new one.

“Weneed to be able to come to terms with what both of us are at the club, or we need to move on,” Smith said. “One of us does, anyway.”

Rapids managing director Jeff Plush said disagreements between the two are part of a healthy working relationship and don’t necessarily indicate major problems. “There’s nothing that makes me believe we won’thave a very strong working relationship for many years to come,” said Plush.
