Claims by Manchester United’s Patrice Evra that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez racially taunted him during the teams’ 1-1 tie on Saturday has drawn ProfessionalFootballers Association chief executive (PFA) Gordon Taylor into the mix.

Taylor has offered to mediate the dispute between the pair. Evra claims Suarez used aderagatory word, which he did not specify, at least 10 times during the match. Suarez has denied the allegations.

At the annual conference of Professional Players Federation (PPF) onMonday, Taylor said, “It’s something we’ve done in the past and it’s something I hope we’ll be asked to do in the future. We need to try to cool down and reflect on what happened and to contact the FAand see what form their inquiry will take.”

Brendon Batson, chairman of the Professional Players Federation, said: “Obviously something has gone on to the extent thatEvra made a complaint, and I know that Suarez has denied making any comment. For the good of the game, and for the reputation of the players involved and the clubs involved, we need to get to thebottom of it.”
