[AMERICANS ABROAD] Jozy Altidore won the Lowlands battle of Americans as AZ defeated Sacha Kljestan's Anderlecht, 1-0, in Brussels to move into the round of 16 of the Europa League.

Altidore came on as a sub late in the first half, while Kljestan went all the way and picked up a yellow card for the Belgian league leaders.

They were the only Americans to suit up on Thursday, though Steve Cherundolo's Hannover 96, Jermaine Jones' Schalke 04 and Oguchi Onyewu's Sporting all won and went through.

Cherundolo was serving an accumulated yellow-card suspension, Jones has an injured calf muscle, and Onyewu is out at least 8 weeks with a knee injury.
