Sammy Ochoa has played just 458 minutes across three different competitions but has scoredfive goals for the Seattle Sounders, the latest on Saturday’s 6-2 rout of Chivas USA.

It was his first MLS goals. The others came in U.S. Open Cup and Concacaf Champions League, in which he hopes to see action Thursday night against Caledonia on Thursday (8 pm ET, FOXSoccer).

“He’s obviously playing better, his confidence is up right now,” Sounders coach Sigi Schmid said. “That’s a very good goal hescored. For Sammy right now, this is a good time.”

“You have to take every chance you play as a big opportunity and you have to take advantage of it,” the 25-year-oldOchoa said. “Whether it’s U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf or reserve games, coaches look at everything you do when you play those games.”
