A 16-foot tall bronze statue of Zinedine Zidane’s infamous headbutt on Italian Marco Materazzi during the 2006 World Cup final is now on display in front of Paris’Centre Pompidou modern art museum.

It’s a creation of artist Adel Abdessemed.

“This statue goes against the tradition of making statues in honor of certainvictories,” said exhibition organizer Alain Michaud. “It is an ode to defeat.”

Zidane was red-carded for the offense and France lost the final on a penalty-kicktiebreaker.
