Galatasaray on Monday announced its second major signing in a week, as former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba agreed to an 18-month deal, cutting short his stint at Chinese SuperLeague club Shanghai Shenhua. The move is the Turkish giant’s second major coup of the transfer window after Dutchman Wesley Sneijder joined the club last week.

Onhis Twitter account, Drogba, who is currently in South Africa playing with Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations, said, ”I am looking forward to playing in the Champions League again, against thebest clubs in Europe.” Drogba, of course, was Chelsea’s key man last season as the Blues lifted the 2012 UEFA Champions League trophy. ”The opportunity to play for this great club was an offerthat I could not turn down,” he added.

The 34-year-old will join Galatasaray after the African Cup of Nations is over on February 10, just in time for its Champions League Round of 16clash with Germany’s Schalke 04 in Istanbul on Feb. 20.
