[AMERICANS ABROAD] Alejandro Bedoya scored his second goal of the season for Sweden's Helsingborg in its 5-1 win over Gefle. Clint Dempsey's Tottenham had to settle for a 2-2 tie at relegation candidate Wigan that left it in fifth place in the English Premier League three points behind third-place Chelsea and two points behind Arsenal, which has played one more game.

-- Fabian Johnson assisted for relegation-threatened Hoffenheim in its 2-1 win over Timmy Chandler's Nuremberg that moved it to within three points of Fortuna Duesseldorf, the first team in the safe zone.

-- The troubles for Sacha Kljestan's Anderlecht in the Belgium playoffs continued as it fell at Club Brugge, 2-1, leaving it one point behind Zuite-Waregem, which also lost, with just one win in six games in the second phase of the Jupiler League.
