Rapids land Colombian defender Mera before bell

[MLS TRANSACTIONS] As MLS’s primary transfer window was about to close on Monday, the Colorado Rapids signed 23-year-old Colombian defender German Mera on loan from Deportivo Cali until the end of the 2013 MLS season.
 
“German is a big, strong and talented young defender withexperience at the top level in Colombia,” said Rapids technical director Paul Bravo in a statement. “Bringing him in gives us some good depth alongthe back line, as he can play both centrally and on the left.”
