Several reports are claiming that Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will be following Alex Ferguson out of Old Trafford this summer, as it emerged that theRed Devils striker, frustrated with playing out of position and being left out of key matches, handed in a transfer request two weeks ago, which the United coach rejected.

However, now thatFerguson is retiring, attention turns to the stormy relationship between new coach David Moyes and Rooney, whose career began at Everton. Moyes actually sued the striker for somenot-so-flattering comments he made about his former coach in an autobiography, for which Rooney later apologized. The pair is thought to have since buried the hatchet.

In any event, sincehanding in the transfer request, the England striker has been linked with moves to Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Chelsea; he may yet favor a fresh start under Moyes. United, meanwhile, hasrejected the idea of a Rooney transfer completely, insisting: “Wayne Rooney is not for sale.”
